Costa Dorada culinary tour: from traditional eats to haute cuisine

Many well-known celebrities such as George Clooney, choose to live here and give Lake Como a taste of Hollywood style. Spending time on the lake, admiring flowers or grabbing coffee anywhere here will create a unique experience. If you’re like me, Daunt Books in Marylebone is a must, but for secondhand books, you can check out the underbridge at Southbank, or the Oxfam Bookshop in Highgate, or the Muswell Hill branch. I’ve written guides about the best things to do along the Central Line and the Piccadilly Line, and will, overtime, write guides about all the other Underground lines to help you out. When it comes to London’s hidden gems, I could write for days about those, but ultimately, what you do in London depends on your tastes, and everyone’s tastes are different. Depending on where you stay in London, you’ll find London is not lacking when it comes to coffee shops and food spots.

This is a great way to save money and time if you’re not in a hurry to reach your destination. Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil, located in the southeast region of the country. Known as the “Cidade Maravilhosa” or “Marvellous City”, Rio de Janeiro is home to 6.32 million people and has a reputation as one of the most vibrant cities in South America. Berlin has been the stage for a lot of world history and not just the fall of the Berlin Wall. You can still discover the traces of history in countless places around the capital.

How We Stack Up Over Other Guides:

Proprietors often speak English, and can arrange international shipping. While most of the national fix is sated by Japanese fare, there’s still a lot of local talent – The Simpsons, Family Guy and Spongebob Squarepants are among the shows inked and lined here. The “proper” Korean night out has long followed the same format, one that entwines food, drink and entertainment. The venue for stage one (il-cha) is the restaurant, where a meal is chased down with copious shots of soju. This is followed by stage two (i-cha), a visit to a bar; here beers are followed with snacks (usually large dishes intended for groups).

Her suggestions aligned perfectly with my interests and were tailored to make every moment of my trip memorable. When unforeseen events, like a historic hurricane, impacted the region, Han demonstrated incredible adaptability, offering thoughtful alternatives that kept the adventure going seamlessly. Planning a trip of this magnitude was no small feat, especially as I faced health challenges that required significant itinerary changes. Han’s patience, understanding, and flexibility during this time were extraordinary. She handled my indecision with grace and ensured that every adjustment was executed flawlessly. She accommodated last-minute requests, whether it was visiting a newly recommended site or making arrangements to meet friends in-country.

City danger watch

Most visitors experience West London en route to or from Heathrow Airport, either from the confines of the train or tube (which runs overground at this point), or the motorway. The city and its satellites seem to continue unabated, with only fleeting glimpses of the countryside. However, in the five-mile stretch from Chiswick to Osterley there are several former country retreats, now surrounded by suburbia. Regent Street and Oxford Street, meanwhile, are home to the flagship branches of the country’s most popular chain stores.

Central Vietnam

There’s no finer place for lunch on a sunny day than Barceloneta, an eighteenth-century neighbourhood of tightly packed streets with the harbour on one side and a beach on the other. The picture-postcard images of the Barri Gòtic are largely based on the streets north of c/de Ferran and c/de Jaume I, where tourists throng the boutiques, bars, restaurants, museums and galleries. South of here – from Plaça Reial and c/d’Avinyó to the harbour – the Barri Gòtic is rather more traditional (or sometimes just plain run-down). Halfway down the Ramblas, just past La Boqueria, look down at the pavement – that’s right, the large circular mural under your feet is by Joan Miró. There’s another large ceramic mural at the airport, for a start, while Miró designed the starfish logo for the Caixa de Pensions savings bank (there’s one splashed across the Caixa Forum arts centre on Montjuïc).

  • As dawn breaks, a surreal panorama unfolds, revealing the breathtaking beauty of Bali from a vantage point like no other.
  • One of the world’s greatest modern art collections housed in a spectacularly converted riverside power station.
  • Moscow (MOW  IATA for all airports) has four commercial passenger airports.
  • After driving across Canada for 150 days to create a 12-part travel series about travel in Canada, the Must Do Canada Youtube channel took off.
  • Enjoy the beautiful attractions and sightseeing of Seville Spain, the warm weather, the delicious tapas, long nights, ancient culture, temperament and flamenco.
  • Mid-range hotels often have pools and a dash of artistic style, while upscale options are wonderfully luxurious, many with rice paddy or river views.

  • Once you get this far south you’re within a short drive of the coastal resorts of Mátala and (accessed via a mountain road) Léndas.
  • One of the best times to visit is in the spring, from April to early May.
  • At this time, thousands of visitors mill about the archway and plaza.

Travel Guide

The wettest months in most parts of the country are April, May, October and November, when camping can be unpleasant and hiking on the Rwenzori is particularly miserable. Abundant rainfall also means that large wildlife tends not to congregate conveniently around water sources in the national parks. On the other hand, landscape photographers will revel in the haze-free skies of the rainy season. The main hazard on Ugandan roads is the road hog mentality of, and risks taken by, other drivers. Bearing the above in mind, a coasting speed of 80km/h in the open road is comfortable without being over cautious, and it’s not a bad idea to slow down and cover the brake in the face of oncoming traffic. Nationals of most countries require a visa in order to enter Uganda.

Start, as nearly everyone does, with the Ramblas, a kilometre-long, tree-lined avenue of pavement cafés, performance artists and kiosks that splits the old town in two. On the eastern side of the Ramblas is the Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter), the medieval nucleus of the city – a labyrinth of twisting streets and historic buildings, including La Seu (the cathedral) and the palaces and museums around Plaça del Rei. Central Vienna is surprisingly compact, with the historical centre, or Innere Stadt, just 1km wide.

The cheapest beds are provided by privately run hostels, mainly in the city’s northern districts. Capsule hotels are a little more expensive but certainly worth trying once, if only for the experience. In Asakusa, the heart of the area beats around the Senso-ji temple, flanked by shops selling traditional crafts. Nearby Ueno Park is a green haven with top-notch museums like the Tokyo National Museum. Exploring these with a local guide who knows every corner of the city makes the experience even richer. Close by, the neighborhoods of Nezu, Sendagi, and Yanaka invite with their quaint temples, shrines, and stores.

The jaw-dropping seascape from Pura Luhur Uluwatu should get some of your attention, though. As should the impossibly green rice terraces around Sidemen and Tirtagangga. To get away from it all, head along the narrow and winding Amed coastal road to Ujung. This glorious, high-level track offers some of the most dramatic scenery in Indonesia. Apart from practical transportation options, there are leisurely alternatives for getting around in Vietnam. Cycling is a fantastic way to explore the peaceful cities and picturesque countryside, offering a closer connection to the surroundings.

The Atlas Heart is a California travel website dedicated toshowing you the best of the Golden State from a local perspective. It may seem outdated to use one, but you can find some of the best information in them. Their books provide information on nearly any country you can think of (besides Mexico). Moon’s detailed maps are so good in their guidebooks that I fill my phone library with them.

Evening jams lasting the entire night into the morning rush hours are rare but not unheard of. You will have to compete for the right-of-way https://softfootprints.com/ with seasoned drivers who know the tangle of the streets inside out and will not think twice before cutting you off at the first opportunity. One bright spot is the dearth of the large 18-wheeler trucks on Moscow roads.

So, you’ll want to make your way to the exit at least three stops before your destination. Ever since the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869, Mumbai has been the principal gateway to the Indian Subcontinent. A city famously described by Aldous Huxley as “the most appalling of either hemisphere”, travellers tend to regard time spent here as a rite of passage to be survived rather than savoured. But as the powerhouse of Indian industry and trade, and the source of its most memorable media images, the Maharashtrian capital can be a compelling place. Plan your trip to Mumbai with our guide to Mumbai – based on The Rough Guide to India, your travel guide for India.

Unlike Budongo Forest to its north, Kibale wasn’t logged commercially until the 1950s, when it became an important source of timber for the Kilembe Copper Mine near Kasese, and logging was discontinued during the civil war. As a result, areas of mature forest are still liberally endowed with large-buttressed mahoganies, tall fruiting figs, and other hardwood trees whose canopy is up to 60m above the ground. It also supports a dense tangle of lianas and epiphytes, while the thick undergrowth includes wild Robusta coffee. The most useful airline to travellers is Aerolink, which runs a daily return flight from Entebbe west to Semliki, Kasese, Mweya (Queen Elizabeth), Kihihi (for Ishasha and Buhoma), Kisoro, and north to Bugungu, Chobe, Pakuba and Kidepo.
